Choosing a night nappy

Image
Choosing a night nappy is something that I often get asked about. When it comes to cloth at night, it can be difficult to find the combination that works just right for you. I thought that I’d share some advice that I gave to a mother recently. Cloth night nappies A lot of people are put off the idea of using cloth over night because of how bulky the nappies look. Although they do look quite large, usually babies and young children don’t actually find them that uncomfortable. If you are looking for a trimmer nappy, then using something like bamboo or hemp can help. These fabrics are highly absorbent, but slimmer than other nappy fabrics. Hemp in particular is ideal for night time as it is very very absorbent. Most people find that it will take around ten washes to get to full absorbency. You can still use the insert during this period, but it will continue to get better and hold more over this time. The only thing to watch with hemp is that it is fully dry before each use. We have hemp

Ecobots Prefold Nappies

We have sold Ecobots Prefold nappies for a few years now here at Nappyneedz. You may not have realised, but Ecobots are actually part of the same company as Nappyneedz. Last week, I made the decision to combine the two websites. You can now find all of the information about Ecobots here, on this website. Loved by 1000’s Ecobots was founded in Christchurch over ten years ago now. Three years ago now, I purchased Ecobots from the previous owner and ran it along side Nappyneedz. The cloth nappies are easy to use, extremely reliable and have been tried, tested and loved by thousands of Kiwi families. They were the perfect addition to the Nappyneedz family. Although I’ve been selling some of the Ecobots products on this site for a few years now, last week, I added the full range. I have also moved all of the cloth nappy information and advice to the site too. Ecobots Prefold Nappies If you haven’t come across the Ecobots system before, or would like to know more about the nappies, then you

Using cloth nappies out and about

Using cloth nappies out and about needn’t be hard. Some people prefer to switch to disposables when away from home. You don’t have to do this though. Here are our tips for using cloth wherever you are. Tips for cloth nappies out and about Take a few extra inserts, these can make good wipe up cloths or you can lay them in a cover/outer if you are low on nappies. Think about how long you are likely to be away from home and take a couple of extra changes. A small, fold up change mat means that you can be sure of having a clean surface to change your little on on. If you are using cloth wipes, either take them dry and wet when you change at a sink. Alternatively wet them before you leave home and store in a mini wet bag. Some people like to take a small spray bottle to wet wipes with. Zip up wet bags help to keep in odours, so that you can carry wet or dirty nappies home easily. Disposable liners are ideal for dealing with solid waste while out and about. You don’t have to bring it home

Being Green

When it comes to being green as a parent, or at least trying to, it can be confusing. Are cloth nappies really better for the environment? Will using a reusable product really help the planet? What else can you do to make a difference? Cloth nappies and the environment People choose to use cloth nappies for many different reasons. The benefit to the environment, is one of these reasons that many parents decide that cloth is for them. There have been a number of reports though, that suggest that cloth nappies aren’t that much better for the environment. They say that there isn’t a huge benefit, once the power for washing and drying is taken into account. What these reports often don’t take into account though, is that disposable nappies still need to be disposed of. Filling up a landfill with a product that doesn’t break down, is a huge environmental problem. A nappy that can be reused time and time again has a much smaller impact on our resources and from that point of view is far bett
